There's so much you can learn working with others, stuff that would've taken much longer to learn had I gone straight to being an indie (granted, back then, "indie games" wasn't even coined :). The place is inviting, but may lose its appeal for some after the jokes and violence get old. I feel very fortunate to have been able to work both as an indie and on teams at other studios. Shakedown: Hawaii offers a wonderful cavalcade of carnage down in paradise, where making money is king. It combines open world missions with acquisition, in a tongue and cheek satire of big business and white collar crimes.īefore starting my own company, I worked as a programmer for a few other game studios from small to AAA, dating back to DS, PSP, PS2 and those Jakks Joystick TV Games, through Wii, PS3 and 360. I'm also self-publishing PS4 and Vita retail releases, as I did with RCR. Shakedown will be releasing digitally to Nintendo Switch, 3DS, PS4, PS Vita and Steam. The supervillain Grandmaster has imprisoned a quintuple of Marvel heroes Spider-Man, Captain America, T. This wound up opening the floodgates to all the other limited releases. I also started the limited PlayStation retail thing with Retro City Rampage for PS4 in 2014, working with Sony to simplify the process (such as coordinating the ability to release outside of bigbox stores without an ESRB rating). I also did a NES prototype, and released a 'Making of' video a while back: Retro City Rampage was released on PC, Mac, Linux, PS3, PS4, PSP, PS VITA, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo 3DS, iOS, Android and even MS-DOS (with a physical release on a single 3.5" floppy disk!). I'm Brian Provinciano, developer of the top down open world games, Retro City Rampage and Shakedown: Hawaii.
